Bizarre visa/NOA situation
I wish I were making this one up and I hope that I can come back in a few days and post this was resolved in relatively sane manner. I'm keeping some of this vague intentionally for obvious reasons.
In the course of applying for a job in Korea I switched residency and made sure I notified the party in Korea of the official address change as well as specific instructions on where to mail the visa paperwork (NOA/etc). In short, it was mailed to my friend's address where I'd hoped to make my US residency side of things easier (apparently mistake #1) but not the mail-to address I'd indicated. The package was
received with some issues while I have been traveling outside of the US (confirmed by FedEx etc..) but all was good to that point.
I'm concerned that my friend (the temporary receiver) has had some mental health issues and has seemed incapable of forwarding (fedex'ing) my packet so I can complete the visa paperwork. The 2nd worst thing I can imagine is having to fly there merely to pick up what can be easily fedex'd. I predict a serious strain in the friendship at that point needless to say.
My question is this, I suppose. In the worst case scenario, has anyone ever been able to get a second issuance of the visa paperwork/NOA from the Korean side of the equation? Presumably there's more than just my copy.
It's early and there's time to work it out and I'd be willing to fly to Korea to hand-receive another NOA/stamps and do a Japan run if that was necessary.
It's material for another long post, but this situation along with the weirdness of friends or family in helping with basic support that has lead me to believe going %100 overseas (not counting on even marginal) from the state side is the only way to go in the long run....again, for another post.
Thanks for ideas. |

Is this person sane enough to hand your packet to a courier who will come to his house? |

Ah, the brilliance of Dave's ESL cafe comes through!!
I hadn't even thought of that. I'll check into FedEx today as the backup to having functioning friends!!!
Seriously, thanks for taking this rather odd dilemna!!
