I was wondering what the EFL market in Seoul is like during August. Im a certified teacher in Childhood Education, trying to find work in NYC. But if I don't get anything by August I want to be able to apply for jobs in Korea and leave before the start of September. Is this realistic?
Thanks in advance guys. |

Your biggest concern would be getting your Criminal Background Check takin care of for your E2 visa which can take around 6-8 weeks if you sent it today. I would get started on that ASAP if you are at all serious. As for job availability. There are jobs that could be accepted TODAY if you had your papers together. |

I have applied for a CBC, but my question was more that I am waiting to see if I can get a job in NYC and if I don't THEN I'm going to try to get a job in Korea. Is that a bad plan? |

I used to live in NYC myself. Bit of an adjustment over here.
Look, I think you'll be OK finding a slot if you mean, as of 1 August I'm dropping NY and making a full-scale push to start in the first couple weeks of September. May not make that, but it'll probably be close.
BUT, if you mean looking for NY through the end of August and only then look, and try to leave for Korea within a couple weeks, then no, I doubt it. Anything that pushes to start that fast will likely be a horrible job that will screw you over something fierce for the next 12 months.
Good rule of thumb is, expect a gap of between 4-6 weeks between having an offer in hand and touching down at Incheon. |
