Is there any canned tuna in this country that is either packaged with light oil, or water? I've tried several different kinds, and they are all packaged with heavy oil that just sits in my stomach and makes me feel icky.
And has anyone been able to find canned salmon? |

You can get albacore packed in water at Costco. You used to be able to get canned salmon there as wel,l but they seemed to have quit stocking it.
With Korean tuna buy "mild." Supposedly water packed, it's still oily. I just dump it in a strainer and rinse it off with scalding hot water.
I had been going strictly with the albacore until I read that it has quite a bit more mercury than the darker tuna. |

Lately I've been buying Dongwoo mild tuna, and it still seems so oily. I've just been draining it straight from the can, but washing it off is a good idea. |

you can buy tuna packed in water in a foil packet (green colored packet) right next to the canned tuna at damn near any supermarket if you look for it. Not greasy/ oily at all. |

Dong Won brand just started producing Chunk light tuna in water. I used to have to spend a fortune and get it at costco. But Emart started stocking this. It doesn't come in a traditional tuna can but a green pouch. 170 grams for about 2,900. It says 동원라이트튜나 on the green package. Its usually next to a similar blue Dong Won pouch that is tuna packed in olive oil. |

Buy the packets or rinse and drain a couple times. |

I haven't seen the chunk light tuna yet. This is one of my many gripes about this country...that you can't find canned salmon or chunk light tuna, which are a lot less polluted than regular tuna. Koreans hate salmon which is ridiculous since they'll eat all other fish parts from the sea. I get salmon packets sent from home. The Koreans are probably another 5 or 10 years off from canning and eating salmon. |

How much is albacore at Costco? My local "Orga Whole Foods" stocks it but the price is ungodly: 8,500 won per can (no joke).
I wouldn't mind a nice tuna melt but Korean tuna sux. |

I've had no problem buying tuna from Home Plus and Family Mart, neither are packed with oil-- not sure what the brand name is, but it's in a yellow and orange tin. |
