I recent bought an iMac and was curious about discussion forums for it. I'd love to talk about it here, but I fear the thread will get derailed.
Any forum out there for noob Mac questions? |

The forums at MacRumors is probably your best bet.

If you looking to just ask questions and get answers, the discussions section at apple.com isn't bad.

The forums at Macworld isn't bad, but I don't think as many people go there as MacRumors.

http://www.insanelymac.com/ is quiet a good source of info too. I used it a lot when I was installing Snow Leopard on my PC. |

Thanks, guys. I'll check 'em out.
Right now I'm feeling my way through the programs. Trying to figure out of programs such as utorrent are equally as good on the Mac... or if I should switch over to something else.
Just installed iVI and am totally digging it. Not only does it convert to mp4, but also adds all the info and images to it for iTunes - quite cool. |

I have thought about buying a Mac mini at one point, but they just keep getting more and more expensive. |

I'm not sure if they have updated utorrent since I last tried it out bit I've had good success with Transmission. |

Can you add your own ram to a Mac Mini easily? I see they charge $100 for 2gb of Ram on the Apple site if you buy the cheapest model configured with 4gb. |

Easy to change the RAM in any current Mac and I would certainly suggest that no one pay for RAM from Apple. It is easy to change and far cheaper to do it yourself. The same goes for hard drives. If you need a new one, buy it and replace it yourself.
This is a good site for information on changing/fixing things:

Here's another vote for Transmission.
Also, a fun app that pairs with it is Automatic; great for TV shows. |

I'm digging the grouping in Transmission.. but having troubles with it checking files. What I mean is, I've got torrents from sites I want to seed (have them on my HD), but it doesn't recognize them.
Anything that you think I might not have checked?
edit:Figured it out. When you start a torrent download, there's a window pop-up for selecting file location and such. There's also a little button that says 'verify local data'. I thought it was automatic... but you actually have to press it to get it to check. |

You can make it a bit easier by dragging the file you want to seed directly into the Transmission window. This will bring up a pop-up that has the location of the file already set.
Many Mac apps work by dragging related files into the App's window. |
