Hey everyone,

I'll try to not make this too long.

In short, in May, I declined to renew with my school. I've since realized that I made the wrong decision and want to stay on. It is still early in the process but the MOE are not allowing me to resign. they don't want to do the paperwork, I guess. I have high marks and my principal called them too.

So, my first question is if anyone else had a situation like this and did your MOE accommodate you.

The second question is if they won't change their mind, I'd like to stay in KOrea but only six months, because I want an "out" if things don't fit right.

Should I consider the TaLK program or find a hogwan for 6 months. And are there many 6 month hogwan jobs?

Has anyone went from EPIK to the TaLK program?

Any help would be much appreciated...

They can't stop you from resigning (it is your right under the labor standards act).

If you meant re-sign then they may no longer have the budget for you (since you told them you weren't staying they may not have applied for the funds), may have already gotten another candidate or someone in the district office is POed that you said no and your goose is cooked in that disctrict.

Options:
a) find another EPIK job.
b) apply to other PS's on your own (may have to change districts).
c) you are here so you MAY find a hagwan who will take you on for 6 months (or sign a 1 year contract and leave when it suits you).

*GET your transfer and extension done BEFORE your ARC expires or you may be stuck up a creek without a paddle (unless they already have apostilled copies of your FBI CBC and degree on file or on order).

.

Has anyone applied directly to a public school before?

let this be a good lesson to all the newbies. it's always better to say, "ok, i will renew the contract," and back off later in reasonable time. Razz

I second Ramen, from personal experience.

I was trying to be nice, because I didn't want to say yes and then no and leave on a bad note at school, but I should've.

Thanks for the help everyone.
