Any idea where I can find one? Preferably in Daegu.
Yes, the stores have the expandable metal ones, but as far as I'm concerned, that completely defeats the point. When I carry a hiking stick I want to look cool, not to climb Mt. Everest.

Go to any hiking store nearby a mountain. Major mountains (National parks) have a lot more stores compared to smaller mountains. Stores range from guys selling stuff out of the back of a truck, to street vendors with lawn furniture to brick and mortar stores.
I don't know why you don't want expandable. They're cheaper, easier to carry and I don't know how else your gonna get down a rope section with one arm and a giant stick that won't collapse.
To give you a price range estimate, a decent pair of collapsible poles will cost you 40,000 (20,000 each for ones with a metal tip). You can certainly get cheaper down to 5,000 a pair but, I never wanted to risk it. There's also poles with rubber or plastic tips instead of metal. They're generally in the 10,000 range but, they're heavier and they don't give you as much traction / support as a metal one (That'll dig in to the ground)
A non-collapsible pole will be cheaper than that. I don't know if your looking for something with a shock absorber in it (Will cost slightly more) or just a solid block. |

I have an expandable stick that another foreign teacher gave me. Said his friend left it and he didn't want it. I didn't realize he meant a metal stick, but took it and thanked him.
Like I said, I probably don't need a walking stick for the trails I'll go on. But I love the feel of one in my hand.
