Hi guys,

I landed a job just over a week ago with this school, I read the contract, spoke with a teacher who is teaching there at the moment (via email) and also sent the contract to my brother to have a look at it and give his own opinions.

My brother managed to dig up some stuff that I didn't manage to dig up with regards to the school including a thread from this forum which basically told the poster to run from the school.

Does anyone on here have any hands on experience with this school or any valuable info for me (apart from run away and never return) I want to know

Thread from here:
http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?p=2440019

and another few things I came across myself.

Any hands on experience with the school would be great. I am waiting on my recruiter to get back to me with regards to some questions I had about my contract.

Cheers

Was talking to someone who works there since and heard they have a high staff turnover (many teachers quitting early) mainly due to an excessive workload and poor morale. English Villages are generally a bit monotonous in the long term also. Good location but glad I didnt work there!

Is it the actual global village or the library? The are both in the same building and both employ teachers. My buddy works in the library and from what I understand thats the better gig.

Thank you guys for your replies.

It is in the global English village. I have no idea of the turn over but I would trust it more from you guys. I had a conversation over the phone with the recruiter today. The main thing for the conversation was to calm me down and iron out any worries that I may have. The recruiter said that the school has high resign rates which is great. (they resign about 75% of their teachers?)

The recruiter said that there was also a change in the principals of the school. One of the links tells of a racist mister kim, (who was supposed to have left in 2009/2010) and was replaced by mister kim a Korean/American who is trying to change the school around (I did my interview with this guy.... pleasant to speak to and all that) I asked for confirmation of this and my recruiter said he wouldn't be able to get that for me.

I have emailed a girl that I was in email contact with about getting some skype adds for recent / current foreign teachers at the school....no reply yet.

I dunno what to think, the recruiter hammered home the perks of the job, and what I would be missing out on. Its pretty good pay 2.3 mil won, free accommodation by the beach and two weeks paid holidays.

I told him I needed time....He asked me to sign the contract and send it onto him to buy some extra time (he wouldn't tell the school) , I don't want to do this as I would be legally bound....has anyone been asked to do this at all before?

Sorry if all this is muddled....my head is fried now thinking about all this stuff again and again.

Re as in again and sign as in sign the contract for another year. So 75% people staying there for another year. If it had been quit or fired, I doubt the recruiter would say, "Hey, I'm sending you to a place where almost everyone bails. Have fun!"
