Just wondering if it is required that I leave on the day following the end of my school contract. I have heard that there is a grace period of 14 days but I'm not sure if that is true. I want to leave about 6 days after my visa expires.

You must depart on or before the date on your ARC, the date on your visa in your passport is meaningless. You can apply for an extension if you provide proof of onward travel (up to 30 days I believe) to Immigration. You can apply for the sojourn extension on

As said above....
Take out wallet.
Take out Alien Registration Card - look for the two dates under your picture. The second one is the date for when you have to leave. Careful with the numbers it will go - year.month.day.

Only exception is if you renewed. Then turn over the card and look for the "Period of Stay" boxes. It will likely be written in felt pen (by a immigration official).

If you want to to stay longer get an extension.

Do not follow by word of mouths and my boss says. That route will lead to a fine and possible black mark that can affect future visas. If in doubt make a call or visit to immigration.

You must be through passport control (on the way out) no later than 23:59 on the last date indicated on your ARC.

Failure to leave by that time will result in an overstay that will pretty much preclude any future work on an E2 in Korea (It certainly makes it much more difficult and virtually impossible or very expensive because of the requirement for all immigration offenders to have a home country consular interview every time they apply for a new E2).
