Doesn't your school publish the menu a month in advance? Check it out and plan ahead for the days you don't like what they're going to serve. |

Yeah, true...but I already paid for lunches for the month, so I might as well eat some of it even if I don't like it. |

Nah, that'll only cause stress.
On days I don't like the food, I just order in. I don't even have to worry about the judgmentalness because I almost always order Korean food, and from the best places in town. I notice more teachers are picking at their lunch and more delivery garbage in the garbage heap. |

Don't know about your school, but the teachers at my school are paying only for the meals they eat at the school's cafeteria. I never eat at the school cafeteria (I'm vegetarian) so I pay nothing. |

I really doubt my school accountants would be willing to tally up how many lunches I ate each month. None of the teachers do that. I doubt they even go out of their way to get their lunch deducted if they're sick or out of the office at a workshop or something.
Basically I pay for it so I eat it. Ordering in? Absolutely no one does that outside of the camp times and it would probably come off as prima donnish.
Then again, my school has something like 50+ teachers. maybe you guys are at smaller schools. |

My HS is pay-for-what-you-eat too.......as was my last HS.......I thought it was the norm. The cafeteria manageress just puts out a print of the staff list at the end of the buffet line so we can check against our names. That get collated each month then sent to the school accountant who deducts from our pay.
I thought all schools did this. It's pretty much a scam to charge you for everyday if you don't eat everyday. |

So...I eat everyday! hahaha. Yeah there's definitely no list posted.
But, hey, it's 1800 won for food that ranges from inedible to adequate, so oh well. It's basically an all-or-nothing situation at my school. I could be a total wangta and bring my own lunch to school everyday, but that's more of a pain in the ass than it's worth.

The last three days at my school:
Ginger BBQ pork chop
Black rice
Three kinds of kimchi
Miso with udon
Fried fish (with no bones!)
Fried rice
Salad
Kimchi
Sweet and sour chicken
Black rice
Samgyetang
More kimchi
Pretty awesome stuff, and it's free. That said, they recently switched suppliers, and our old lunches were inedible (though still free). |

Fish at my school is hit or miss. Usually its either too dry (and that is edible) or its red marinated to hell which makes me dry heave after a whiff irritates my delicate nasal passages. |

The days when dalkgalbi, samgyeopsal bokkeum and nakji bokkeum come out I flood the tray with it. Oh the looks I get... |

northway, your lunches sound badass. i had battered boneless fish with a ginger sauce yesterday and that was awesome.
but sometimes they'll serve fish with about a million bones in them and takes you forever to get to the meat. ugh to that too. |
