Sorry for what I'm sure is a previously answered question. Just having no luck with the search function(this one or searcheslcafe.com).

I guess I should clarify a bit. I'm on an E-2.

My contract ends on August 16. I plan to renew with my school for another year. Can I submit the paperwork to renew now? I don't imagine immigration would have let me renew last August, would they? I guess then I could just renew for 2012-2013 this August as soon as my new contract starts, and totally circumvent the new CBC requirements for 2012. That'd be pretty convenient...

You can renew/extend/change your contract any time.

You can extend (for 1 day to 1 year) your status of sojourn up to 60 days prior to your ARC expiry.

I'm confused here... Do you mean 1-60 days before the ARC expires?

Yes, the period for doing the extension (at k-immigration) is 1-60 days prior to your ARC expiry.

Length of extension period can be from 1 day to 1 year.

note: under exceptional circumstances they will OCCASIONALLY do the extension more than 60 days early (as an example, you work at a university, you have more than 60 days of holidays, you will be out of the country for that time period. They will let you extend prior to your departure.
