in an attempt to reduce the electrical bill, my school has instated new elevator rules.
my school has 6 floors, but the elevator will only function on the 1st, 3rd and 5th floors. and you may not use the elevator alone, you must "carpool" it.
how ridiculous is that???
anyone else's school have ridiculous new rules? |

Mine has told us that we have to walk up the stairs to our offices. My office is on the 27th floor, but I spend a lot of my time on the engineering test floors 21 & 23. I don't even take anything to my desk anymore because that just means it'll weigh me down when I want to go home at night. And the stairwells stink of Kimchi + sweaty body odor. Forgot to mention that there are like 9,000 men in our building, and only 130 hot chicks. The odds here suck.

Uh, we live on a virtual island with no natural energy resources with a society where people blast the AC with windows open, despite the fact that there are threats of brownouts.
Suck it up, Mary or you won't have any electricity at all.
NOTE - this is for the OP, not you Bear. 27 floors needs an elevator. |

quit your gym membership and start using the stairs. my apartment is on the fifth floor of the building - it takes twenty seconds to climb it and raises my heartbeat for about twenty seconds after i get through the door of my apartment. not the end of the world.
i don't think it's that ridiculous. it's about time south korea started sensibly approaching its energy use.
now, if only we can do something about the air conditioner-window debacle . . . |

How about trying to reduce the carbon footprint of your own country first? |

go ahead, criticize me all you want, but i think it's dumb to pull this S in the middle of summer. granted, it hasn't been stupid hot these past few weeks because of the rain.
and my school doesn't even turn on the AC unless it's 30C and if it is that hot, they won't turn it on until 2pm. |

what, exactly, is your argument? that i can't have an opinion on environmental issues because the politicians in my country of origin (which i despise) are incapable of sensible environmental policy? that only after i run back to australia, fix it, then run back here am i allowed to tell someone to stop being a baby and take the stairs?
and IT IS about time south korea started thinking about it's energy consumption - the country is the size of tasmania, with twice as many people as the entirety of australia. i think i'm allowed to comment on that, right?
honestly, i'm being serious. i have no idea what you're trying to say here. |

Isn't that poster in Korea? Sounds like that's a pretty good place for them to start. |

Ever notice the way Koreans stand in an elevator? |
