|

Hi,
I work at a hagwon which has two separate offices in two separate locations A and B. We were hired for and are working in school B, when we signed, we signed a contract addressed school A. We were assured by our employer and recruiter that this would not be problematic. We have since been informed that another NET in school A was told to forge our (my girlfriend and I) signatures on a contract addressed school B because there was 'no time' for us to do it. Immigration received the forged contracts.
We do not particularly like our school, do we have any standpoint when it comes to leaving and seeking a job elsewhere in Korea based on this forgery? |

You have the same option you would have had if they had not been signed on your behalf; quit and move on.
Your best bet would be a runner (leave Korea the day after payday, turn in your ARC to immigration on your way out (to cancel your visa), return at your convenience and start looking for a new job.
You will need to prepare a new set of documents before you do it (new visa = new documents).
If you were thinking of suing and getting some financial benefit to compensate you for the difference or additional expense of quitting and moving on it won't happen. You're not in the states anymore.

Not looking for money, just a way out! We were never consulted about the forgery, may have been an early warning sign if we had!
Because we have signed a contract for school A can he snag us that way? Immigration do have the forged copies though... |

You have agreed to something, even though they changed the playing field. You can't pretend now that you didn't commit to something because it wasn't what was originally agreed to. The time to act was when you were taken to a different place to teach.
This is like asking, "We don't like the house we moved into, can we transfer to a different house?"
First you got to get rid of the first house. You could sell it or not make payments and let it go into default. This would be like you both not working and getting fired.
Try selling your house, quit. You could try finding other teachers. There was a couple looking for a place together a while back. Here's their thread http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=207498 |

The contract signature is fairly moot at this point. It is no longer necessary to go through all the hoops to change locations or work at multiple locations for the same employer. So, your original contract would be valid at both locations if they are under the same employer.
If you don't like your job, you should give proper notice and quit according to the terms of your contract. |
