|
|
I'm working in a public school and will finish my contract on Aug 25th to move to another public school in a different province and start a new contract Sept 1st. My recruiter has asked me to acquire a Letter of Release from my current school to give to my future co-teacher in September but from what I recall, I should only need a Letter of Release if I'm leaving mid-contract.
I've called the immigration hotline and they told me all I'd need to tack on another year to my E2 was the business registration number and a NOE or contract from my new employer. Then again, they tend to say different things each time you call. It does make sense though. I also looked at my current contract and it says something about getting a Letter of Release if switching POEs.
Now I'm really confused. Do I need a Letter of Release or not?

Visit Immigration Office during or after last week of contract before ARC expires = No LOR required

Transfer within your last week or after it ends and before your ARC expires.
There can be up to 30 days between contracts but the paperwork needs to be done before your ARC expires. |

My contract ends on August 24th and my ARC expires the same day.
I was offered a contract to begin working at a new school starting a week after completing my current contract.
How do I transfer my visa?
My new school doesn't want to wait the two weeks for me to make a new visa and my current job doesn't want to give me a LOR because I will be completing my contract.
A little background: I renewed my visa last year before the new FBI CRC and Apostille Diploma laws took effect, I have all of the necessary documents but I haven't submitted them yet. |

Funny, I'm wondering the same thing myself at the moment.
My contract is up on 7/31, so if I complete my contract and get a new job sometime before 8/31, I'm not sure if I need a letter of release to do a visa transfer (I'm not planning on leaving the country between contracts). |

I spent the afternoon reading every combination of ARC and letter of release question and answer and I am still not sure.
If we have the contract, bussiness registration number, and the required visa docs (lets keep that list out of this discussion) are we able to vist immigration before the end of our contract/arc and extend and transfer our current visa using our new contract without a LOR?

Yes, provided it is within the last week of your current contract (or after it has completed) AND before your ARC expires.

I am happy to have an authority here on the issue and the topic.
One week seems to be cutting it pretty close. Guess not much you can do without a LOR.
Appreciate the answer!

Are we still able to go to Kimmi sixty days before our the start of our new contract to start the transferring process? |

My ARC and Contract end at the same time so I will be rushing to the immigration to transfer them on the 6th day before either of them have time to expire.
Cheers! |

@ttompatz: Dude, you're a lifesaver -- thanks for all the great info! You wouldn't happen to be able to provide a link to an official source for the info you mentioned, would you? Is it on the Kimmi website? |
