When you are leaving Korea for good, what do you do about......

your cellphone: Do you have it cut off the day you are leaving? How about paying the current month's bill, especially if the bill is connected to your soon to be empty account? Do you sell your used phone back to the company?

your apartment bills: How to pay for your current month's apartment bills and internet? Will the school pay for that out of the security deposit they took?

Just wondering..............

For your phone, you PM Draz, cuz he posted right after you asking how to get a cheap phone, so... he might be in the market.

Yeah, pay your bills.

Cut off your service. If you don't, they won't do it automatically, and your school can't either. It's in your name, so you have to do it. If you aren't coming back, you could just skip away, but you never know what the future holds AND it's crap like that that makes things hard for everyone else. So... go to the store, talk to them, get it straightened out.

Bills that come after you leave, the school will pay out of your deposit. You can also talk to the companies and get them to send the bills up to the time you're leaving and pay it before, but not all companies will do this, and not all are that fast.

My last school paid the bills and claimed I left 500k unpaid.

I came back a few months later and said "okay, can I have the receipts, please?" I had specifically told them to mail the bills to a friend, and had told them what bills would be coming, and they had said sure, no problem.

Long story short, I got my money back. So make sure you get everything nailed down SOLID before you leave.
