If my first day of work was July 26th, 2010, then should my last day be July 25th? The boss wants my last day to be July 22nd, because it's a Friday. Thoughts? |

What does your contract say your last day will be? Does it say "12 months" or "365 days" or "one calendar year" or "12 sessions" ? |

No problem as long as you are paid all your money on 22nd. |

I think for official purposes, your contract should read the full 365 days (July 26th, 2010 - July 25th, 2011) in order for NPS to recognize your eligibility to receive your pension--unless you're from one of the few countries where you don't get your pension back. The full 365 days also applies towards the amount of your severance payout. I think the formula for calculating your severance payout is the average amount of the last three months' pay. Also, clarify with your boss that you'll receive your entire full month's pay even if you finish on Fri. July 22nd. He might just pay you up to the days until the 22nd, instead of the 25th--again affecting your severance payout amount. It happened to me and I was out a few hundred dollars (salary and severance payout combined). |
