Question: I recieved my FBI check with the raised seal and the Kimberly J. Del Greco typed on it, but there was NO stamped or written signature.
I called the FBI and they said the Secretary of State will accept it bc the report is ok as is based on her presumption that they wouldn't have sent the report out as they did if it wasn't ok.
Was anyone else's report like this or am I missing something? |

My friend had the same problem. She sent it to apostille pros. They got the apostille on the doc expedited or you can send it back to the fbi which will take another 6 weeks for the stamp if you want a dos apostille. Either way is fine by the korean immigration.

I did my FBI check about 5 months ago and it came back without the signature.
I figured I was screwed but took it to the California Dept. of State anyway to see if it would fly. As it turned out, I didn't have any problems getting the apostille. They didn't even mention the fact that it wasn't signed.
Maybe I got lucky, but I don't think the signature is required. |

My FBI-check came back without the signature-stamp the first time and when I called the customer service line the guy had to go check, because apparently they had "already changed the rules about that three times."
I sent it back to them for the stamp, but I'm not sure it was necessary. In the long run, seeing how inefficient the Department of State is with apostilling, I might have been better off not losing those couple of weeks. It's a coin toss. Be prepared for hassle and anxiety either way. |
