XP Pro 64 Bit: Cheapest price is 172,000 won.

Believe it or not, they are selling XP Home (English) for double the price of XP Pro (440,000 won!).

Either way, not going to be cheap. Maybe you can find a used copy on Ebay.

You can still find OEM copies of XP for about 120k in the basement of the place between seon-in plaza and the nanjin arcade at yongsan.

If you are at a public school your IT guy has a copy with a broad/bulk license that you can legally use on your computer at school or for home use (as a teacher).

is there a particular app that doesn't work with Windows 7? The price is nearly the same and works much better than XP - and I'm not even a windows fan but a Linux twiddler. Forget XP if you can - it's nearly 11 years old

That article is a year and half old (and anyway, if favors W7 as a conclusion!). W7 surpasses XP in almost every benchmark now.

Plus, MS are reducing support for XP surely and steadily. You'd be insane to pay money for an 11 year old OS (which was developed in the '90's!!) which is being phased out by it's maker.

Get Windows 7 OEM if you must pay.

Why would anyone actively search out and buy a copy of XP these days? That article is severely outdated. Windows 7 is a great OS. I really see no reason for you to spend so much money on an OS that is over a decade old.

Plus, Microsoft will soon stop supporting XP all together.

Your cheapest option by far

Here's a thought to add to the discussion...

Get Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate (or Enterprise). Then, if you really need to run XP, you can do so in "Windows XP Mode". Basically, it's a real version of XP running inside a window of the 7 OS. It's free with the aforementioned versions of Windows 7.

For the most part, it worked for a couple of legacy programs I needed to run. However, be aware that sometimes the USB support might be flakey. For example, with some corporate email / network access where you need to insert a USB security dongle, it wasn't recognized and I had to use a different system altogether. Otherwise, XP Mode via 7 worked fine for my basic needs.
