What's the most popular book being used these days?

It seems everywhere I go Let's Go always seems to surface. However, Let's Go for the teacher and students- yawn.

Chatterbox was more exciting- but deficiencies in grammar emphasis made it such that you might as well be using short stories- not to mention it lacked in phonics.

Interchange- well- teenagers and older students want to drop it as fast as they get it into their hands.

Exploring English- Mr. Bascomb just doesn't cut it on the "I can relate to you" realm of things.

Other books really sucked due to their insistance to focus on American history- you almost thought they were history books rather than ESL.

Listen and Hear or Listen and Speak- required no more than a robot to press the tape player.

You get the point- "What's the best series?"

I'd think the English Firsthand series would be great for middle school and high schoolers.

If only Pagoda's SLE series was edited better, it would be great for adults. I love how they use freetalking activities even at low levels. When a student at a low intermediate level realizes they've been freetalking for a while, they're usually amazed and proud of themselves.

Who come up with some of the characters in that book??? My fav. is Tino. Everytime I read that all the students think Tico. It is a good book for a lazy teacher but if you want to stimulate the mind it is better to throw it out the window.
