I was under the impression that sealed transcripts were no longer needed to get an E-2 visa. However, I just came back from the Korean consulate in San Francisco and the girl processing visas there asked for both my sealed transcripts, as well as a copy of my degree. Luckily I had both just in case I needed them (I had a feeling before I left that something would go wrong) but the school I'm going to work for (a big chain) didn't mention anything about it, and I thought I read on here as well that they were no longer needed.
Just a heads up for everyone on here. |

| Why would you have to give them to a Korean consulate in the USA? All those documents are sent to Korea, are they not? One only needs to pop into a consulate at home for the "Interview" (What is your name? Have you taught in Korea before?) |

They asked for all of this from me EXCEPT a copy of my driver's license. But they did ask where I lived to make sure I was at the right consulate.
Anyway, I just got my passport back from the SF consulate today with my E-2 visa, so everything worked out, but if you're geting your visa from here, remember to take your sealed transcripts and your diploma! |

I've read on a bunch of different forums that said people also needed a copy of their CRCs. Did the SF consulate even mention this document? I sent it in to the EPIK main office but failed to make a copy for myself (I know... stupid move) Now I'm worried that I'll need to apply for another CRC just for the VISA and miss the august orientation. |

If you're going to the Seattle consulate, you'll need a photocopy of your CBC, as well as university transcripts and your original degree. Also, they give you a real interview there; they asked me questions about how I would handle certain teaching situations and stuff. They're super strict about everything, and then you have to go back the next day to pick up your visa.
If you're using a recruiter, they might have made copies of your documents, so if you have problems you could try contacting them. That's what I did a year ago, and my recruiter was able to sort things out for me. |

Are you serious? What if I fail the interview? Does that mean I won't get to go teach in Korea? |

I did the one in Seattle and they aren't THAT strict, though the consulate I had definitely seemed to take the position seriously. We might have had different ones though. |
