Due to a mistake my recruiter made, I've been moved from a position in Bundang-gu in Seongnam, just outside of Seoul, to Gangdong-gu directly in Seoul. I'm very disapointed. I'd done lots of research and Bundang sounded so nice and wonderful, with beautiful parks and amazing infrastructure. I'm very sad not to be living there. Moreso, I can't seem to find any information that gets me excited about Gangdong. Actually I really can't find much information at all.

Can anybody help cheer me up? Am I going to be near any interesting locations? Or maybe even just a short subway ride away from something? Nice parks or mountains? Exciting shopping/partying locations? Anything at all that helps me get over my disappointment of this last minute switch would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know why you are so disappointed. Because you saw pictures on the internet?

Bundang is awwight, but it aint no screamin jesus.

Bungdang=Ilsan=Suwon=Ansan=etc=etc

Korean cities are one in the same.

Gangdong is not too bad. Centrally located and close to Jamsil.

You need to lower your expectations dude. Otherwise Korea will highly disappoint.

I guess the biggest reason I was excited about bundang is because i found information on it to get me excited. I was able to read info about the parks, and the cultural events, and all that stuff. And having that information got me excited. When I did a search on gangdong, I found virtually nothing, and so there's less to feel excited about, does that make any sense?

Since posting, I did some research into the neighboring districts. I found a lot of info about Songpa, which is the closest district, and that made me feel a lot better. But seriously, when I looked into Gangdong origionally, i found out that one of the neighborhoods has a dunkin donuts, and that another one has a department store. And I'm thinking, "is that all my district has to offer?"

With your reassurances, and with the info I found on Songpa, I'm feeling much better. But still, it's hard to spend a month and half getting excited about a place just to find out your not going there after all. I hope that makes a degree of sense.

Dude, there's really nothing to get excited about re: Bundang. A bit of a mish to Seoul, the usual crappy satellite city of Korea.
In Gangdong you are close to the action of Seoul, on line 5... a little over 30 minutes to Iteawon, a bit longer to Hongdae. In gangdong you have OPTIONS mate!
