.. I signed a contract before my documents were ready and sent it to my recruiter. Now someone else is offering me a better job. I know that by signing a contract and giving it to the people they say the school will stop looking (yeah right) and that it counts as a commitment, but the contract wasn't signed by the other end, they don't have any of my documents, and there were no dates on the contract. I know what i did or am aobut to do is unethical, but can this cause me problems when if i go to get a visa through another school?

thanks

You know rules, and so do I.

Until you have a visa number (for which documents are needed) you are not obligated to work there. Just let them know ASAP. They will be very angry, likely, but you can take the other job.

I can't see why they would take an interest in mugging you over an unratified contract. Seems like a lot of trouble.

Nope, there won't be any problems at all. Immigration doesn't care about school beefs with teachers they never actually employed, all they care about is what number you're giving them, not whose it is.

Just be upfront with the original place--tell them you're sorry and feel really bad for inconveniencing them.
Explain that you were offered a position which is a much better 'fit' for you.
They may be a bit angry, but that's business!
This kind of thing happens--managers know it happens.
You've got to do what's best for you!!
