2 North Koreans fail drug test at womens WCup
Quote: |
FRANKFURT, Germany (AP)Two North Korea players failed drug tests at the womens World Cup and the entire team was then subjected to an unprecedented doping control, FIFA said Thursday.
Defenders Song Jong Sun and Jong Pok Sim tested positive after North Koreas first two group games and were suspended for Wednesdays match against Colombia that ended in a 0-0 draw. Both teams were eliminated.
World Cup organizing committee spokesman Jens Grittner told The Associated Press that the North Korea squad flew out of Duesseldorf at 6:30 a.m. local time on Thursday. It was bound for Zurich from where it will continue to Beijing and then Pyongyang. |
More at the link. I wonder what's going to happen to those two women when they get back to "Dear Leader" land. |

Did you know that in sports, way more people take steroids than test positive? Masking agents are becoming more and more sophisticated, but also tests are becoming more and more sophisticated. Also, many times the athlete's last cycle is timed to be out of their system by the time the drug test rolls around. In the case of the poor Korean women, do you think they sought out steroids on their own? Doubtful. They were probably given them (with or without their knowledge) by the government. |
