|
|
I have a nice, little, cheap phone I used in the UK with me, it's an LG, if that helps, and I haven't had it unblocked. I don't want a smart-phone, nor a second-hand one, nor some dopey flip phone, but unfortunately there isn't a market here for my cheap tastes
So, will my phone work? |

Simple answer: No.
More detailed answer: Maybe, but you'd first need to get it unlocked, then pay a fee which I've heard costs more than most non-smartphones do to get it whitelisted. If I remember correctly, only some of the (apparently more expensive and recent) phones work too, due to network types or something.
Honestly you'd be better off going with the pay as you go second hand phone. I have heard there are a few cheap phones on contract, but it might still be more than you want to pay. |

Because more than likely your simple phone isn't a tri/quad band phone, and it isn't unlocked. There's no fee to get your phone whitelisted in Korea anymore. Your best bet is to do a bit of shopping around and see what you can come up with. Most places will do simple phones for cheap or free. |

What is the band spectrum that works in Korea?
Because I'm going to buy an unlocked GSM android smartphone while in Canada. I want to be able to use it in Canada, Korea, Thailand, and China with different SIM cards. |

Yeah first is to get it unlocked. Truthfully in many ways it's easier just to buy a new phone, depending on how long you'll stay. There are pay as you go plans, which are pricey, and contract plans for which you will need an alien registration card. If you're getting an alien registration card then it's worth just buying a new phone here, they're not that expensive and they are good quality. |
