Hey guys

I had an outbreak of HPV just over 3 years ago; I haven't had it since so it's presumed dormant in my system, or possibly cleared out by my immune system (there's still debate on whether the virus can ever really disappear). However, if it's dormant, I gather it may still appear on a HPV DNA test, so I'm wondering if this is checked in the medical? And also if I could lose my job/be deported over it? I can't imagine this since over half the population have HPV without knowing it, but then again it's South Korea so I know it's possible.

It's quite worrying, as they don't do DNA tests for it in my country so I have no way of checking myself beforehand, especially since a PAP smear would come up clear as there's no outbreak.

I'd really appreciate anyones experience on the matter.

Thanks
M Smile

I'm pretty sure the only STD they check for is HIV. HPV isn't going to get you deported.

Nealy half of all sexually active people get HPV. Do you think the odds are that good that it was only the other half that went in and passed the medical test?

As far as I know, HPV is not tested for.

Fear not.

Pretty sure HIV is the only thing actually tested for.

Thanks a mil, I was a bit worried about what kind of response I'd get from reading other posts here about STD checks, so I really appreciate everyone being so nice and helpful. It's one less worry Smile

Hey guys, I don't know if I jinxed myself or what, but I've ended up with a small outbreak. After 3 years of being clear Sad I've been sick for the past 2 weeks so it was probably my immune system being weak that triggered it off. It's only very small, so one session of freezing tomorrow should clear it up, but I'm even more paranoid and worried about being checked for it in Korea now. If anyone reading this has been aware that they have HPV, and still passed the medical, I'd really appreciate it if you'd pm me or reply to this post.

Thanks to everyone who replied and pm'ed me so far. I know this is probably annoying, but I'm just feeling really lousy at the moment and I wish I could look forward to my trip without this on my mind.

Thanks
Maria

hmm...maybe you really fell short of taking extra care of your immune system. there's really that high tendency for warts to recur because of the stubborn virus. have you been treating it with creams like oxyfend zerowarts? or home remedies?

there's no way in hell you would get deported for hpv.

like someone else said, hpv is sooooooo common. even if you don't see any symptoms or ever had any outbreaks, you probably still have them if you're sexually active.

i wouldn't worry about it.
