I don't really agree with the often expressed sentiment that all foreign teachers working here who stay for a long time are weird loners who are unable to fit in to society in their own country.

For one thing I've met plenty of decent and interesting people over here, as well as some with a genuine interest in teaching. For another: I simply can't accept that "long timers," are all completey disfunctional, because I am one. Wink

Having said that, one does sometimes make aquaintance with someone over here - a native-speaking English teacher, I mean - who turns out to be completely, barkingly, and unrepentantly *$%^"$! mad.

This is something of a facile question really, but just for interest's sake, I'm asking anyway: who are the weirdest, most dysfunctional, maddest !"%%&$"s that you have met over here? What were the symptoms of their lunacy? How did their sociopathic tendencies slowly reveal themselves? Did you think this person was normal at first, and then you slowly came to accept s/he was a nutter, or did you mark him out as a crank straight away?

On a more practical level - how did you detach yourself from the company of this unfortunate aquaintance? Or, perhaps you decided to keep him as a sort of pet, so that you might voyeuristically observe his bizzare behaviour for your own entertainment?

Most of the guys I meet are huge losers and/or douchebags. I make friends with foreigner girls here a lot easier than I do guys. Most of the guys her are either GI guys looking to flex their muscles and pick fights or sleazly losers who didn't get any in college and came here looking to bag as any easy/stupid Asian girls as possible (this can be confirmed by any girl you ask).

For the most part I find the western women here pretty down to earth, and I definitely dont have anything against them. My only gripe is that I swear 90% of them are morbidly obese, and it looks even worse considering the girls walking around here are so skinny. If they weren't all twice my weight I'd consider dating one over Kgirls one day.

This one stands out as most true to me. The foreigners here aren't that bad.

I'm dysfunctional, but I'm not in the Seoul area anymore.

I shant apologize for it. We creeps should have a meet up where we drink too much and spend most of the night staring at each other's shoes. It'd be awful "swag" as the kids say.

You know, for all your self-deprecating humor, I can't help but think you'd be a fantastic dinner companion.

Weterners in general are pretty degenerate nowadays.

Especially when compared to the more conservative and traditional societies of the world.

The weird foreigners are few, they just stick out more.

The one thing that gets me is the absolutely desperate need for attention that some foreigners bring over. That and diarrhea of the mouth. But these are not the norm, just they stick out.
