I extended my contract for 6 months which takes me until the end of August. My ARC for some reason has been given until 9/30.
Assuming my school doesn't cancel the visa, can I hang around for that month and then maybe extend it for the 30 day period to 10/30 just to bum around, say goodbye to the gf etc..? |

That depends if your school tells immigration or not. Check with them. When they inform immigration you get something like 2 weeks before you have to leave.
Also, note, in many contracts there is a 10 day clause for flight reimbursement. If you stay past these 10 days, the school doesn't have to pay for the return flight. Maybe you could work out a deal to get some cash instead.
And another plan would be to just leave now, re-enter on a tourist visa. You can get 90 days then.

I'm hoping I can get the plane ticket money out of them and they don't have a problem with me staying for that month. There's nothing in my contract stipulating any leaving period.
Apparently it's becoming standard practice for immigration to grant en extra month on visas. Then I can stretch that into 2 months if I want...to do some 'stuff' , that is legal of course.
As for the girlfriend. That's the unfortunate scenario we're in with me being 29 and needing to head home to reality as I'm not in the pursuit of a teaching career, time is ticking and it's far too comfortable here. Always strange being in a relationship where you know the expiry date...for now at least. Ahh, the trials and tribulations of travelling love. |
