Yes you can. If you have an account already from the US, then you will have to have your account information changed.
This will involve sending a current utility bill with your address and and name on it. You might have to provide a few other things.
Pokerstars support is very helpful so just send them an e-mail and they will tell you exactly.
So far, depositing has been a bit of a hassle. I have 3 different Korean banks and they all decline the direct transfers. You have to setup with a site like moneybookers and wire them the money and then they convert it and you can then ship it to your account.
If you find a better method, please let me know.
Best of luck. |

wow, only degenerates go to those lengths to satisfy their gambling addiction. Save yourself the money kid, and stop wasting your money on poker websites--who knows how legit computer "dealers" are. If anything go to walker hill and play live. I walked out of there +$90. Fish all over the place. |

How is that any more degenerate than going to an actual casino where you can play blackjack and roulette? Pokerstars is very reputable and I've played there many years and have made a decent amount of money doing so. I have friends who play professionally and have won 100s of thousands of dollars from Pokerstars alone.. |

I take it you haven't heard about Black Friday - the indictment of the top executives from Poker Stars, Full Tilt Poker, and Ultimate Bet on April 15th of this year. Their US accounts have been frozen and their .com domain names have been seized by the US Department of Justice.
A quick rundown of events since then:
Quote: |
In the immediate aftermath of Black Friday, the following events have occurred:
ESPN and ESPN.com have removed all associated with PokerStars, canceled their North American Poker Tour coverage and even stopped showing reruns of older WSOP broadcasts.
The Big Game on Fox has been canceled, at least temporarily
Wynn Entertainment and other U.S.-based casinos have ended most of their relationships with online sites
All three sites have stopped serving U.S. players for real money games
Top officials that have yet to be arrested could be extradited, depending on their current location (officials for these sites usually live outside the country)
Funds for U.S. players are temporarily frozen, and theres a chance this money could be lost altogether. |

They're fighting it, but I'd seriously think twice before depositing any money at any of those companies right now. Unfortunately, I can't really suggest an alternative for you either, since I don't play poker online. |

Yes I'm very aware of Black Friday. I would never have put money on Ultimate Bet or Absolute Poker before that had happened anyways.
Pokerstars has cooperated fully with the DOJ, pulled out of the US market and was given permission by the DOJ to return the funds to the US players. They did it, and they didn't have to. The same deal was given for Full Tilt, but they didn't have separate accounts and burned themselves and possibly a lot of others if they don't find investors to take over and hopefully pay back all the customers.
I wouldn't suggest playing on any site other than Pokerstars as they are a top notch business and it has shown throughout their history of existence. I would also recommend to not deposit much, or anything that you would not be comfortable losing. (that goes for any type of gambling)
Being able to play online from the comfort of your own home, play multiple tables, a fraction of the rake and avoid the rampant degenerates that float around casinos it seems more than worth it to risk a few dollars and play on Pokerstars..
just my two cents.. |
