Anyone heard from any Koreans, any predictions? Seriously, this rain has got to stop! A rainy summer will really suck! I'd like to get an idea of what to expect. |

The rainy season, or changma, is expected to end this week. Then just hot and sunny until the expected typhoon season in mid-August.
But these are just the expectations. The Korean Summers have been really unpredictable recently.......it could indeed rain all Summer. Bummer. |

Yeah tell me about it. Last summer was no good. I wanted to stay in Korea to save money but in the end had to leave. Couldn't stand the lousy weather. Guess I'm hoping for what a typical summer should be. sunny and hot rather than muggy and rainy. We'll see what happens. |

At least it's cool and rainy rather than the pressure cooker we got last summer. |

Wait till August. It'll be like the inside of a rice cooker outside.
Korea's magical "4 seasons" come later than our 4 back home. We get April showers, they get June showers. July really heats up back home. Here, August is something I dread every year. I'm a warm bodied person to begin with. August makes me want to hang myself. My electric bill always sky rockets because I have to keep the air con on full blast.
Then it doesn't get cold until November. Well, cold to us at least. I see Korean bust out sweaters and coats on Oct. 1. Cold or not. There's something about them dressing for winter, even if it isn't winter yet.
Plus, I think they're really thin skinned. Like, literally thin skinned. I've seriously seen them in heavy coats huddled around heaters on Halloween. Halloween has never felt cold to me here. But everywhere I go, all I hear is "chuwa, chuwa" "ah, jin chuway yo." |

The Monsoon season in South Korea ended this week. No more southwestern systems carrying a deluge of rain and fog without much wind.
The typhoon season hits South Korea in the middle of August and sticks around until the middle of or late September. Then it will be stormy, with sideward rains! incredibly high winds but - if it just misses the peninsula as it often does - there will be not so strong tropical storms, the worst turning to hit southern regions of Japan instead.
So, enjoy the mid-July to mid-August period. It's a time of mixed weather, occasional sunny skies and - if lucky for beach goers - three, four, five day blue stretches.
These are the three seasons in one in the Land of the Morning Calm. |

Exactly how does Family Guy equate to Britney Spears and then general buffoonery of celebrities, the majority of which I could not even name? Although if Zhang Ziyi or Jeon Ji Hyun shaved their heads, I would weep.
Family Guy is just funny. I am sorry that you want to judge someone for watching a show for entertainment. Let's see what else I watch:
National Geographic
The History Channel
Discovery Channel
Animal Planet
Battlestar Galactica
Firefly
Burn Notice
Stargate
Leverage
Modern Family
The Big Bang Theory
Game of Thrones
Falling Skies
Extras
Nature Documentaries
And others I forget to mention. I doubt any of these programs puts me in the category that you so crudely tried to classify me. |
