I'm flying out to Canada for the week before Chuseok as well as the time we have off during Chuseok. Problem is, my passport has just expired. The embassy is working on my new one and will have it ready by the end of the month. She said they won't transfer the Visa to my new passport.

My question is, since I'll be asking for the old passport back (they will cut a corner off of it) and have an ARC card that shows I'm here until Feb, 2012, will I have any problems at immigration when returning? I would think the ARC card + old passport with Visa (and new passport too of course) would be enough. Or do I have to go down to immigration and get something put in the new passport which will be completely blank?

Thanks!

You legally have 14 days after the receipt of your new passport to report the change to your local immigration office. (after that you may be subject to a fine for non-reporting a material change in your status of sojourn).

They MAY add a stamp to your passport (sometimes they do, sometimes they don't) but it isn't required as your ARC provides status of residence for departure and re-entry.

Ok, so in other words, after I get my passport I should make a trip to the immigration office regardless. Sounds like a fun day!

Thanks
