It depends on the power rating of your A/C unit, how high the ambient temperature is, how well the building holds the cold in and how low you set it.

Also be aware that electric use in Korea is on a tiered scale so as you consume more and move into the next (higher) tier your rate per kwh also goes up.

It depends. I'm in the hottest city here - Daegu - and usually have the AC cranked up on its power mode for maybe 3 hours a day during the summer heat. I expect around 60-80,000 per month, maybe even 100.

Of course, your gas bill should be considerably lower to coincide with the rise in your electric bill. And it'll be all change by the time late October rolls around...

Hope that helps a bit.

Tom

Also depends where you live. Apartment buildings and officetels pay higher electricity rates than villas. Sometimes a great deal higher -- especially after one exceeds a certain amount for the month, at which billing exponentially increases.

I use to run a small 4 pyung wall aircon at 23 degrees at least 12 to 24 hours per day in a small 1-room villa and paid 35,000 more that month. I was shocked, and had to test while a friend watched the outside meter to see if the electricity was coming out of my meter or the neighbors.

Last year, we ran an albiet considerably larger 16 pyung model in conservation mode running between 23 to 26 degrees about 1/4 as much. Only we lived in a 30 pyung Ramien apartment, and paid over 150,000 extra for the month.
