I'm a teacher in the Anyang area. On Wednesday morning I'm boarding a bus to the Hanwha Resort in Yangpyeong-gun.
Apparently GPOE has commissioned YBM to provide a seminar for GEPIK NETs.
This is my first year as a GEPIK teacher, so this is new to me. Who else is attending? And if you live in my area, feel welcome to message me.
Cheers, and I understand that other, prior posts about GEPIK orientation likely exist, but this site's poor search engine can't seem to handle strings using the 'and' operator ^.* |

have fun, because they suck, unless they changed it completely from last year. its just them basically trying to tell u what you can find online. Its good because you get time away from work (unless you are like me and actually like kids and teaching! lol) it was a huge letdown. They spend so much money on it and its mediocre, but il recommend some things for you to bring.
1. Cards (playing cards are a good thing to go with #2 and 3 below)
2. Alcohol if you drink ( it will help the time pass and works well with #1 and 3) because alcohol isnt allowed to be "sold" to teachers there who are participating in the orientation.
3. Food/snacks - something to help you feel better or munch on. The food was mediocre when i went last year.
Although you might meet many new people who are teachers and make friends lol
oh and did you read the post about the teacher who was assaulted sexually/raped 2 weeks ago? the post is up in this forum. |

Well, I generally already know how to structure and plan lessons (experience as a tutor + TEFL certificate). But I'm always curious to pick up anything that might be useful. Still, I'd much rather just sit in on actual classes taught by highly experienced teachers. Ah well. My primary focus will be to meet other teachers. I've yet to meet a fellow newcomer!

ha, all right. I'll keep that in mind.
About playing cards, I was intending to go walking in the evenings. Maybe some other teachers enjoy hiking?

Yeah, not sure what to make of that. I presume you mentioned this because I live in Anyang? That's not really relevant to Anyang in particular... I mean, I don't think it's an indicator of any statistical significance. I think it's more relevant to the idiocy of the drinking culture in general. |

| Eh? I somewhat hope not. My students have mid-term exams this week, and I'm scheduled to teach for a total of one period. If I'm going to school, then at least I ought to be teaching! Or I suppose instead I could spend the time alternating between studying Korean and taking naps :D |

| it was actually good. Much smaller than last year and a few "new" rules. But the classes and activity were focused and informative. The new location was much better (except for rain). |
