The company I work for pays me 200,000won to type a few words into Craigslist and get new teachers. We have repeatedly been advertising a job that pays 3.2 million for 4.5 hours a day. What more could people want? But, so far, no suitable applicants.

OK, the job isn't in Seoul. It is in Incheon. Also there is no flight or housing provided. But, still, 3.2 for 4.5 is pretty good. Also with the last month bonus, the last paycheck is 6.4M! The only thing I can think of is that there are superior deals out there. But I look at other ads and don't see them.

At a loss.

Here's a thought... you could try paying Dave for this ad on his site? Then maybe you would get applicants?

This was an easy one to sniff out.

You're claiming these awesome wages YET your school is using craigslist and is too cheap to put out an ad on Dave's. Yea that's not suspicious at all.

Have the foreign teachers who can't wait to get out of there come up with an idea to make a thinly veiled "hey look here!" thread with a catchy title and you just may find a replacement teacher and save the recruiter fees.
That's nice he's paying you , but it's peanuts compared to what recruiters make.

LOL @ anyone who PM's the OP falling for this trap.

Yeah and list all the non benefits and see how much any applicant will be out of pocket.

No airfare - up to 2 million won out of pocket.
No housing - up to 5 million won out of pocket.
No pension, no medical insurance probably - up to 4 million won or so each year out of pocket.

I could go on....

And this is exactly why you're not getting suitable applicants.

As someone who has been here for ten years, owns a hagwon, and a recruiting company here, this deal is by far nothing special. And yes, there are better deals out there but just not usually advertised on here.

Only 3 hours and 22 minutes later, huh?

Obviously they needed time for a thorough check of their supposed new employee's background and qualifications. Rolling Eyes

The magic word

Suitable applicants, so no, in reality, it is NOT a teacher's market, or whatever pretends to be a teacher here in Korea.

Craigslist generates more hits than Dave's.

Furthermore, it says F2 visa only. That doesn't apply to 98% of the teaching market (unless you're fishing for illegals to take it). They won't even take an F4 like yourself? Really? Hmmm........

Adding insult to injury, that is crap pay for an F2, especially, as noted above, that you have to pay for all your own %$^#, and the cost of living in Korea isn't CHEAP.

Housing, Medical Insurance, and a couple round trip tickets home (spouse too), would eat up over half your yearly salary in a minute.

The above poster had it right.

HUGE FAIL.

And to all the F4's who recruit for these greedy slimebags, why don't you try explaing this type of thing to those idiots when they get the slightest idea of hiring another F visa. You know, one with an actual education, and not just based on ethnicity? (In other words, most F2, and F5s don't work for the same pay as F4s, and just becuase you sold out, doesn't mean they will.

One more thing, if your cheap &$% company won't even cough up enough cash to post thier crappy jobs anywhere but craigslist (unless you're just an unpaid freelancer, in which case, you're the cheap one), THEN DON'T COME ON THIS FORUM TO GET AROUND PAYING FOR A REAL AD.

I feel sorry for the person who took this job, if that really happened at all, but nice try on the covert recruiting.

I know, I know, you gotta make that 200k somehow, even if it means selling out, more than you already have.

Pathetic.
