I'm in the market for a solid piece of luggage. A co-worker recommended Tumi, but that stuff is super expensive. The warranty(free repair forever was how he explained it) could make it worth it though. I want something that will last me forever. I'm willing to pay if I have to, but the sturdiest luggage I've ever owned is a rip-off piece I bought in Beijing for $40.

What brand do you guys recommend for price/quality ratio?

Specifically I want a large-ish piece, hard or soft, with two wheels and a built in garment bag.

My wife helped me buy a good-enough quality British brand off of the net. It was a bit more expensive here, but it's been very good, and is light.

The brand name was Carlton 칼톤. It has integrated TSA locks, which are nice. Of course, you can also find Samsonite 쌤소나이트 , which isn't bad.

I should have mentioned. I'll be heading back to the states in Sept. for a bit so I plan on picking it up there.

I highly recommend a company called "Delsey." Real quality stuff, and if you're going to the U.S. check out places like Macy's as they usually have some sort of sale on their stuff.

I like Tumi. It's well-constructed and has good features. I use them as my primary carry-on. Occasionally Costco will have a bag or two from Tumi, so you can get a decent price on them.

I like Hartmann. However, they are expensive and I've spent a couple thousand dollars on getting just a few pieces. On the plus side, they are stylish and well made. I use them more for business trips. They look NICE (i.e. expensive), which is a turn off to some, as they don't want their bags to stand out to thieves. If you go onto their website, they often have 50% off sales, which make their prices much more reasonable to the bargain shopper. Currently, their Vera Wang line is 50% off:

When I go to Korea, I use a pair of Samonite spinners. Super convenient to use and can fit heavy loads. Look for Samonite outlets when you come to the U.S.

I've also heard good things about TravelPro, Briggs and Riley, and Eaglecreek.
