Did anyone ever use naver to find housing?

I am only getting allowance and not housing but I figure if I pitch in a little bit more, I can live much better than the housings the hagwons give me.

If that is the case, are these housings real? Or is there some incentive I am missing? It just sounds too good to be true.

Recap of said apartment(?)/1 room of the link
*1million won deposit and 200,000 won a month
*1 room
*12 peong
*thats all i can tell from the link because i couldn't translate it

Can anyone check out the link and tell me if its viable? I'm in no hurry for a housing but just checking it out because I need one in about a month to a month 1/2.

Anyone else use naver to get housing?

What do you mean?

Your saying its 10,000,000 deposit and 2,000,000 a month?

You sure about that?

-----

It might be a bait and switch. I've never used Naver but have heard about it being done in the past. Wouldn't hurt to get in touch and find out, though.

12 pyeong isn't as spacious as the scrolling pictures make it out to be. I know rent can be more affordable in that part of town but you still shouldn't be expecting much if you're dropping 1 mill in key money and 200 a month.

Oh. so the numbers were right then?

What is that guy on about?

Whats a bait and switch?

Meaning they take pictures of a different, nicer apartment and switch it to a crappier one? lol

Thanks for your reply. I know 12 pyeong is literally very small like a box but for 1 person living, i assume its plenty. Just need somewhere to sleep and that is all.

No, 12 is plenty for one. As long as it's actually 12, not just advertised - they have lots of little tricks they're able to pull, like counting elevator space and parking towards the apartment size.

And yeah, that's what bait and switch is. Real estate agents also like to show you the absolute garbage places first in the hopes that you'll take something stinky.

I'm assuming the numbers are 1 million key and 200 monthly. But that kind of key money sounds really low, as does the rent in comparison to it. 5 million key and up is the standard.

There's not a chance in the world that that place is real.

These bait and switch ads happen all the time online in Korea. I don't know why someone doesn't put a stop to it.

If you call them up they'll tell you a BS story that the place in the link was just rented by someone else and they'll offer to show you other places in the area. The places they show you will be half the size, at least double the price if not more, and not nearly as nice as those pictures.

I would love for you to prove me wrong, but you're not going to find ANYTHING at that price, let alone something as big and nice as what is shown in that link.

And also, the site you linked is not naver.

Use Naver's actual real estate site http://land.naver.com/

You'll find more places there that might actually exist.

If you could get that place for that cheap I think a lot of us would be renting weekend getaways in Seoul.

If you look further down at the ad you will see a big red shiny ad for that company. On there it says they have one rooms with rent from 200,000 to 800,000 and and deposits from one million to 20 million. The ad at the top is misleading- but it is just there to get you to contact this 부동산 which will show you other places. Nobody would really believe that they had that apartment for that price, but it got you to look at the ad, right?

Wow thanks for your replies guys.
I knew it couldnt be true as well but it surprises me what lengths they will go just to advertise their company o_O

really informative!

If its too good to be true, it probably is.

Haebangchon/Gyeongnidan is more or less the cheap rent and low key money area in Seoul. The places you would see for 1 million key and 200K rent would have outdoor kitchens, be rooftop shacks, be buried halfway to hell underground, etc.

A realistic lowball figure for something tolerable is 3 million key/400 monthly. Even then, don't get too excited, because it'll probably still be a pit.

That said, some people rave about that area in Seoul, so it may be worth contacting the place with realistic expectations and see what they have.

I've actually seen a few halfway decent places in that area for around that price, surprisingly.

Just at a glance, I think it mentions something like being on 2 F, but in the pictures, you can see skyscraper rooftops out the window - a slight misrepresentation I think.

I've quoted www.nearsubway.com on here before. I've used them, and can vouch for them. The site is all in English and all prices are transparent. They can find a place anywhere around Seoul if you provide details of exactly what you're looking for -ie, they don't advertise everything they have.

I used that site. I got a really nice place, but the real estate fee was ridiculously high.

As it seems any English-speaking place is around here. Somebody should tell them hagwon kids to study up and make the big bucks!
