I'm planning to teach English part-time during the fall/winter while learning Chinese so I can study abroad in Shanghai in the spring/summer. I would prefer instruction to be in English, though I am pretty much fluent in Korean (I'm not confident that I would understand language concepts in Korean, however). Are there any reputable institutes, preferably in the Gangnam/Apgujeong area?

Thank you!

Plenty of Adult language institutes around Gangnam Station, most have a Chinese Department. Look for the big names, YBM, Pagoda, etc, some will have a Chinese department. ( I know for a fact the YBM at exit 2, has one).

Language instruction will be in Chinese or Korean/Chinese depending on your level.

Unfortunately the "Chinese" teachers I met were actually Korean. You may want an actual Chinese person depending on your preference and the teacher's ability.

Actually, Korean instruction might not be such a bad thing; it'll probably improve my Korean along the way as well!

Get a Chinese studying Korean to tutor you for cheap. Many ethnic Chinese or Korean Chinese in certain Seoul neighborhoods like Daerim and Namguro who will tutor you for 10,000 won per hour.

There are many Chinese students at universities all over Seoul. Meet some and do a language exchange.
