				| I know nothing of photography and cameras.
But I plan to buy someone a DSLR as a gift. But checking on models and reviews they're all too many and a lot of them give conflicting reviews. So I ask you kind people if there's a common/most reliable review site(s) for these sort of stuff. Help please.

				| i'd check out cnet. dpreview can be pretty detailed, and if you know nothing about cameras, i wouldn't be surprised if it wouldbe more helpful reading a korean review than theirs (lots of tech info, etc).
your best bet is to ask someone who's familiar with cameras. i won't pretend to know everything, but i'm happy to field any questions if you want to ask. the "best camera" is such a vague concept, that it's often down to familiarity/personal style or types of photos they like to take, more than anything technical. the DSLRs these days are so ridiculous, and the point-and-shoots aren't that far behind if you're only interested in full-auto-mode...

				| dpreview is very very nice. Comparing every model out there side-by-side is really helpful.
The first two sites that I very often visit since last month is cnet and cameralabs.com. User reviews tend to confuse me from time to time, though, since it seems there are more fan boys/haters sounding people posting reviews. Hence; this post.

I can't believe it takes a lot lot lot more effort buying a DSLR than a computer.

				| dpreview has an awesome amount of information on it. The side by side comparison is really cool if you like comparing stats and numbers.
My +1 goes to the-digital-picture.com . It's only for Nikon and Canon but it's much more useful than just stat comparison. Also, check out Ken Rockwell for an even more feely review than technical.

If you really do know nothing and went to escape all the pixel peeping. measurebating and BS then read some of his articles on how to take photographs.

Another vote for DP Review. Awesome site. Great comparisons too.

				| There's one thing DPReview don't say (despite all the details anyone would ever need... awesome site btw). It's the availability of brand's lenses (second hand) here in SK.
My friend's enjoying his Nikon and rubbing CL on my face while I'm still saving up for a new Canon lens (to be bought in Namdaemun). Sheesh!

				| DPreview is best. Cnet is okay if you want to see a hands on video. | |

				| If you go for a Canon check out my website (link at the bottom of my post). It is an introduction to Canon EOS cameras for beginners. It's [hopefully] short and sweet. | |
