Should I just lock the office door all the time? How can I get people to make appointments before coming into the office or apartment? Students open the office door without knocking. The apartment manager seems to think he can enter the apartment almost any time of the day (never at night).

Nothing you can do about either. Just have to deal with it or you will go insane. It is impossible to change an entire country.

Is it me or am I the only one who knows what a lock is?

Lock the home door. Lock the office door or put up a sign.

Thanks for the replies.
What about the apartment manager? He calls two minutes before he wants to come in. (Anytime between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM) He sometimes comes with a crew (three or four men). What to do? Why the crew?

If he calls on your mobile phone, don't answer the phone if you don't want him coming over. Lock your apartment door. If you are busy when he comes or don't want me to come in, tell him you are busy.

He does not seem to care if I am busy. It seems I should let him in anytime he wants during the day.
I can lock the door but he has a master key.

My landlady has tried to come into my apartment twice. Each time when I was there I blocked the door with my foot and told her NO! as loud as I could. The bitch even tried to force the door open.

I just forced it shut and deadbolted it. She rang the bell about 10 times and just left.

There's no way I can stop her when I'm gone but if I'm there she can go *beep* herself.

Now she contacts the school whenever she needs something. Works like a charm. My door is always deadbolted as well.

Salespeople often try to enter as well. It shocks them when I shout and roughly force them outside and slam the door. Fucking idiots! There's nothing that ruins my alone time more than door to door salesmen. Just because I open the door doesn't mean one can enter my apartment.

I miss my shotgun!

I lock my office door at school. That way they have to knock. As for your apartment, you might want to get a door latch so he can't enter even if he unlocks the lock. You can have any key shop guy install one.

If he is coming in to fix a leaking faucet or pipe, does he need to bring four men? Why the crew? Why bring three men and the cleaning lady in also?

I suggest people buy new locks. No one has a key to my apartment but myself and my best friend. Even the security guys downstairs don't have keys.

Actaully, I have asked about this before, but I was told I would have to leave a spare key with the manager in case there was an emergency.

Just give him a fake key. If he tries to use it, say, "Oh, sorry I gave you the wrong key. What's the emergency?"

Thank you.
Well, I will have to consider that.
