have any of the visa restrictions really changed, or is it the same as it was six years ago, you know, you take a contract to the embassy and then they process it and all, does it make a big difference if youve been a teacher in south korea before and what you're last contract was, thanks for any advise you can give. |

'cept judging from her avatar and username shes canadian so the national level criminal record check will take a few business days courtesy of her local RCMP detachment and apostille doesn't exist. you will just need to visit a lawyer and get some copies of your record check and degree notarized. |

It is the same as it was with a couple extra hoops to jump through.
new:
You need a (certified true) copy of your degree certified by the Korean consulate. (originals are no longer accepted by Kimmi in Korea for your visa confirmation number).
You need an RCMP background check (again certified by the Korean consulate.
You need a job, get a contract, sign it, return with certified copies of your degree and CBC. Get the visa confirmation number. The rest is the same.

Are you sure she needs to go all the way to the RCMP for a criminal record check? It was my understanding that all criminal record checks in Canada - even ones done at the local municipal police stations - were nation-wide checks. I got my CRC at the Peel regional police head quarters in Brampton done on the spot in June 2010. Took 20 minutes. |

Are you Canadian? Why would you need an FBI background check if you are Canadian. |

Just go to any RCMP branch. If you live in a city you can also do it at your local police branch but I would be more comfortable with a check that came on RCMP letterhead, although it is not necessary.
As long as it says on the paper that the "CPIC" database was searched you are good to go. |

It is a non issue as long as your visa was canceled (turned in your ARC when you left). they don't care if you quit your job.

You don't get an FBI check. You are not American.

Saskatoon Police Service - go in an talk to them about getting it done. Probably faster - a lot faster - than the RCMP. |
