At my gym tonight, I was doing some cardio on the bike machine. The 689 treadmills they have are right in front of me.

So this guy who is on the treadmill directly in front of me gets off to go do something. But he doesn't turn the treadmill off, keeps it running.

This mid 20's woman comes walking by and decides to jump on to his treadmill. Not noticing it's still on and going at a pretty high clip, she jumps on and proceeds to fall hard on her left shoulder and then the treadmill slides her off. Kind of like this...

It was probably the greatest thing I've ever seen.

She's so pissed off over it, that she just wanders around aimlessly for about 15 minutes talking to herself, finally she tells on him to the the gym staff.

They come and talk to the guy and everything seems fine. But she's still pissed so she asks the guy to leave his number so that he can pay for any medical expenses. Her shoulder did have a pretty big bruise on it.

So, who's at fault here?

I think that the gym is at fault legally. However, it is ridiculous for the lady to blame anyone else because she is really at fault. How can you step onto a moving treadmill without looking at it first and seeing that it was moving? Was she texting on her cell phone or something?

I don't feel bad for the guy if he has to pay her expenses, though. Who the F gets off a treadmill and just leaves it running? It seems that there was plenty of stupidity to go around in this situation.

Anyway, I'm jealous that you got to see that. I love it when idiots get what's coming to them. Laughing Both the man and the woman in your story sound like morons. Learn some manners and personal responsibility, fools.

He's like 60% at fault, she's like 40%. Yeah, it's dumb to not at least look where you're going, but still, you shouldn't have to. Common courtesy is all that is, and even if she did see it and had to stop it, she would be inconvenienced in having to stop/slow it down. The daft chick basically has a no-win scenario, and the guy is just lazy.

There is often a carelessness and lack of responsibility on the part of ajosshis, because they are used to other people taking care of everything for them.

Its just the slapdash way everything is done here. Nobody pays any attention to what they're doing or where they're going.

I think it's the woman's fault. Anyone can tell before getting on the machine is on. Maybe she thought she can get on while it was running. To get on while the machine is on, you have to start running. Put both your legs on the side (not on the tread), then jump on and start running. If you just get on while it's the machine is running, you're just going to fall.

The guy probably went somewhere to get a towel and was planning to come back to wipe down the machine, so he left it on, so no one get on it. I see some people actually do that. They leave it on, so no one hop on or they're coming right back to wipe down the machine.

You - It's not your fault, how would you know she would step onto the machine while it was running.

I think she's just upset because it's embarassing.

Laughing !

For me, they woman is more at fault than the guy. He has the (all be it pretty lame) excuse that he was gonna come back to the machine but got distracted by a call/water machine/muscle strain etc etc.

She has no excuse. Infact, were there a number of free treadmills not running? I wouldn't be suprised if she actually choose the running machine on purpose.

I was lying about him being white.

Just tired of threads that start off normal, then the people that dislike Korea come in and ruin everything.

I mean seriously, how one one acts at the gym is a representation of Korea and Korean society?

Yeah, I'd love to see a post be just about idiots rather than a nation as a whole.

Sometimes idiots are just idiots.... And they're fun to talk about.
