Hey.
I have a 2 TB Seagate external HD. I recently plugged it in to the outlet and the power light lit up for a second then didn't come back on. I changed cables, outlets, etc... and nothing seemed to work. I took it apart (essentially ruining the case) and fiddled around but nothing seemed to work.
Can anyone recommend a place in Yongsan to take this or anything I can do on my own to try and fix the drive or simply recover the data? It is a fairly new drive that was purchased in Canada at Xmas.
Thanks. |

Since you opened the case, you void any warranty.
Yongsan will be more than happy to recover data off of it, and data recovery is EXPENSIVE. Are you willing to shell out over $1000 to get your data back?
What kind of external HD is it? 2.5"? 3.5"? Did you try plugging it up to a computer like a normal internal hard drive? When you plug it in like a normal internal drive, does it spin up? Does it make any strange noises? Can you actually hear anything in the drive moving?
I think you'd better do some more tests so that people can try and figure out what exactly is wrong with it.
Seagate service centers won't do anything for your drive. You took apart an external hard drive, voiding any warranty. |
