thinking of getting an iphone and wondering if I could use it on sk pay as you go. I don't need data, just sick of carrying my canadian iphone and my terrible cell phone around. |

If you buy a Korean iphone from craigslist and set it up through KT (the iphone provider) you aren't locked into a contract, but you still pay monthly for a plan (voice, data and texts). If you bring an iphone from outside of the country it costs around 300,000 won to lock it to Korea and set it up through KT. |

There's a very big maybe if you're lucky enough to find a pre-paid Iphone.
I went to a second hand store once and saw a Galaxy S. When I inquired about it, they mentioned the price. When they didn't see me flinch, they asked if I'm using a "line" (and I understood they meant contract). When I said I can avail one, they told me it's for pre-paid cards only. Don't know how to react with that so I left.
So there's a big maybe for the Iphone. |

They were wrong. I don't know why they said it was for pre-paid cards only. You could have purchased the phone and taken it directly to a retailer and had it activated under a smartphone plan. |

Yes, I could've. But with how they acted like they don't want to sell it to me, that it actually looks more than second-hand (or maybe because of the battered screen protector that I saw), and that it was worth 500k, that I walked out.
But atleast it shows that there are "rogue Galaxy Ses" out there. Rogue Iphones might exist. |

this is what i'm trying to get at- if the iphone is bought out (and I purchase it from an idividual, not a store, second hand) will I have the option of going with a no data pay as you go plan like the one I have now on my terrible little phone that I bought in iteawon?
I do pay as you go with my Canadian 3g whenever I find myself in canada and really enjoy having the flexibility.
I'm hoping that an outright-owned iphone will give the same flexibility as, say, another smartphone that is wholly owned. but know better than to assume such things with an apple product. |

It will be pay-as-you-go in the sense that you won't be locked into a contract. You will still need service which means you will need it connected through KT. There is a possibility of using pre-paid cards on it but i've never seen or heard of that. |
