Looking to head to the beaches around Incheon..Does anyone have a recommendation? Nothing in particular, just a good place but not too crowded. How were the accommodations for overnight stay as well? |

You are aware that for the most part they are all mud (with the occasional gravel) beaches?
Daebu-do, Jebu-do are common places to head for but not are not readily accessible from Incheon (catch a 999 bus from Suwon).

As far as I know, there are no decent sandy beaches on mainland Incheon, but there are some great ones on islands accessible by ferry. Some of the nicer beaches I've seen in that area are on Muuido, Deokjeokdo, and Jawoldo. The ferry to Muuido leaves from Yeongjongdo, which is the same island that Incheon Airport is on, so from the airport take the 202 bus to Jamjindo ferry terminal, and from there it's a 5-minute ferry to Muuido. Hanagae beach is the nicer of the 2 beaches on that island.
Deokjeokdo, Jawoldo, and dozens of other islands can be reached from the Incheon Domestic Passenger Ferry Terminal near Dong Incheon Station. They both take a bit less than an hour to get to and it costs about W30,000 for ferry tickets. Deokjeokdo and Jawoldo are still very rustic, but they do get a bit crowded on weekends this time of year.
Accommodations are readily available on all of the islands. Hanagae Beach on Muuido has small bungalows available for W30,000 a night. Deokjeokdo and Jawoldo have minbaks available starting from W50,000 a night this time of year. On Deokjeokdo I recommend the Love Beach Motel, nice accommodations for the price, it's run by a very nice family, and they lend out bicycles to guests. You can also bring a tent and camp out on the beach, and there are public showers available if you like camping.
Ttompatz is right that a lot of the beaches around Incheon are mudflats, but the ones I'm recommending are not. However, they have a very gentle slope so at low tide the tide goes out very far.
At any rate, they're definitely worth a visit. |

I would reccomend ejak-do. I went there a few summers ago. The beach was nice and sandy. There were less than 20 peolple on the whole beach. The water was calm and clear. I even saw quite a few starfish lazing about in the shallows. There just isn't much on the island. Only two or three overpriced restaurants and a couple of 민박 to stay at. You can camp on the beach however, if that doesn't bother you. |

My favorite place around there is Jakyakdo, which is just off the coast of Yeongjongdo. It is very small (about 500m long). I like it especially for its historical significance; it was the anchorage of the US Asiatic Squadron in 1871. |

Check out Ma-Si-Ran Beach on Yong-Yu-Do. Went there in June with my girlfriend. Plenty of sand there and quite a bit of sea shells to find.
Also lots of restaurants around the area. too It's just past the airport and you can get there by bus if you need to^^ |

Honestly, if you've never been to a nice beach, you might appreciate the East coast, but Incheon and the islands surrounding are [Mod Edit] mudholes. Don't waste your time, and take an extra couple of hours to get somewhere decent. |

I can't recommend one, but I can recommend one not to go to: Eurwangni. It was the nastiest beach I've ever been to. |

I agree. Ijak-do is awesome! (though I think I still just barely prefer Jawol-do) |

Never been to Jawol-do but have seen it from the ferry countless times. The rule on the yellow sea is the following: The further you go from the mainland, the cleaner the water gets. Jawol-do is actually pretty close to the shore and the water is quite muddy.
Deijakdo-Soijakdo is nice. So as Deokjakdo but I still dislike it because of the large amount of waigooks visiting there. The problem is not with the large numbers but how they behave.
Further out from Deokjak-do there are some nice really small islands. There is barely anyone there, even during the highest peak in the first days of August. The water is clear. Went to Gullapdo last summer. There are only 7 houses on the island, the whole thing is 2 square kilometers. There were maybe 50-60 people all together. You need to take a smaller ship from Deokjak to reach these islands making the trip a bit of a hassle. |
