Just looking for advice on what I should and/or need to do in this situation:

My contract ends in the first week of December. My school now needs me to stay on for an additional week (the semester finishes on the later date).

What do I need to do.......get a new contract or modify the original; notify immigration, labor department etc.

Thanks

2 ways to do it (the right way and the wrong way).

the right way:
make a 1 page addendum to your contract changing the end date (departure date) with all other particulars remaining the same.

take that along with:
ARC
passport
application
fee (30k won)
(copy) of the business registration
letter of guarantee from the employer (sponsorship form)

to immigration and extend your period of sojourn. You can do this any time during your last 60 days of employment and it keeps you legal to work.

The wrong way:
Again, within 30 days of the end of your ARC go to immigration with:
ARC
passport
exit ticket

and they will extend you to the date of the ticket (up to 30 days beyond the end of your ARC). It is NOT legal to work on this extension but it is much easier to do.

Sorry, I forgot to include all the details....

Both my visa (the stamp in my passport) and my ARC expire a month after my contract (January 2012).

Can you let me know if this changes any of the two options given?

Just inform immigration that you will be working till the end of your ARC.
