Hi
I am currently leaving my school. I've been in Korea for almost 2 years. I completed my first contract with no problems.
I arrived in this new school and was lied to from the beginning. There were many lies many of various degress. Anyway to get to the point, I've stuck it out for 6 months and have decided to leave the school.
As my contract says I gave them a months notice.
They are now giving me a problem telling me that I have to pay my airfare and part of the new recruitment fee. In my contract it says that this is not the case.
Also, they are giving me a hard time with my release papers.
I have four questions:
Do I have to pay them any money for the recruitment fee or the flight?
What are my options if they don't give me my release letters?
If they do how long do I have until I have to leave the country?
Can they kick me out without any notice and if they do what are my options? I've heard that by law they have to give me at least a months pay.
Any answers to these questions would be greatly appreciative. |

If they won't release you give them legal written notice and give a copy of this to the labour office and to immigration. A month later when you are pleading your case to immigration you will get more sympathy.
EFL-Law Guy always recommends asking your hagwon about tax and pension. This gets the hagwon on the ball, as often they aren't doing these legally. You will get your papers quickly in this case. |
