Title says it all.
Also, is there any sort of family visa that spouses of F4's can apply for? My wife is on the F4 and I'm on a tourist visa that ends soon. I looked at the HiKorea site and it seems F4's are either excluded or simply not listed under the F-1 Visa guidelines.
Thanks. |

I have been told, unconfirmed, that an F4 can get an F2 on points and then switch to an F5 after being on the F2.
There is always the old route of going to F5 after being in Korea for 5 years if you meet the other qualifications.
F1 has never been an option for F4s.
Contact your local Kimmi office for your options.

OP, the HIKorea website has changed since I last visited it over a year ago, but I can certainly answer your question in the affirmative.
When I applied for my F5 visa (moving from an F2) I found information on the website regarding who was eligible for an F5. If you search my post history you can find this thread in which the many types of F5 visas are listed. One of them is for F4 visa holders who have been in-country on the F4 for two years or longer.
When I visited immigration to get my F5, I confirmed this information with the officer I spoke to. He said that yes, F4s can transfer to an F5 after 2 continuous years on the visa.
I have spread this information to the few F4s I know (one who's been on her F4 for 9 years!) but as far as I know none of them have taken advantage of it yet. |
