I was wondering if anybody can tell me about jeollanamdo language program. I have tried to do a search but have come with very little. Is their public school system a good place to work with? What is the orientation like? Is the like EPIK because my recruiter said that my school was near gwangju. Or do the public school hire you and then you go through an orientation and then find out what school hired? Any information or experiences will help. Also what is Gwangju like? What is the night life and shopping like? What is the health system like? Can you find a good general doctoer, dentist, dermatologist, etc.? Like I said any information/experiences will be greatly appreciated. Thank you! |

There's actually quite a lot of information about JLP on this site, on blogs, and mostly on waygook.org (which started as a Jeollanam-do forum).
Google around and do some homework. Long story short it's not part of EPIK, but it's a province-wide program. You know where you're going before you get there, but the larger cities are picked first so you may be in a rural area.
There are dozens of threads about life in Gwangju on this forum, and a few "what's Gwangju like" threads a month, so no sense in repeating all of that here. The best sources of information for life in Gwangju / Jeollanam-do, though, are blogs and Facebook. There are groups for teachers in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do, so browse those to get more of a sense of life there. |
