What if you have a penchant for gambling and a slight case of gout in your right knee? Will that make you unfit to teach?

If you have a speach impediment, can you teach English in Korea?

Many questions arise...

How about if you have Tourette Syndrome. Or a penchant for garlic sandwiches?

Sing mate, you sound amazing! Shocked

STD's, depression, gout, mood disorders and a penchant for gambling?!

You'll fit right in!

If you admit to having it, yes.

Agreed.

Seriously Sing81, If your physical and mental health is really in this kind of condition (mood disorders, anti-depressants, gambling addiction, gout, STDs...) you really should think twice (maybe 3 or 4 times) about coming here. You are leaving behind all your family and friends. Coming here by yourself. Then the way medicine is practiced here is much different than back home. Not to mention the language.

Good luck and get well soon.

Think of the health self-assessment form from Immigration as a sort of IQ test. If you are dumb enough to check "yes" in any of the boxes, you are too dumb to teach EFL in Korea.

Mood Disorders
Sexually Transmitted Diseases
Anti-Depressants
Depression

These are pretty heavy posts. Anyways, life abroad - especially Korea - can be pretty unforgiving if you have depression issues. Combine that with alcohol and it's a recipe for a tragedy.

This is literally the best possible explanation to any question that varies of "If I have X disease/disorder, can I teach in Korea?", seriously. It cannot be summed up more perfectly than this.

i actually laughed out loud after reading Son Deureo's post.

I'm curios what people feel they have to gain by telling Immigration they have mental health issues?

Karma maybe, or something else that doesn't exist. People need to realize that this society is about saving face, your own most of all. Admitting faults is career suicide.

A clear indication that this clown is a troll is that they never check back in the thread. Think of the seriousness of the questions they have asked; make-or-break stuff, but do you see them engaging anyone? Nope. Gone. They wind you up and sit back and watch the show.

There is some fun watching people spend time they will never get back actually answering totally ridiculous questions, and even more when they keep asking and the questions keep getting weirder and weirder, yet still the replies pour in.

Gullible bunch.
