Hi all, coming to Korea in Sept and was wondering if anyone could give me an idea about getting contact lenses and eye tests etc? I'll be in Seoul so I'm sure there must be somewhere!

Can anyone give me an idea about costs? I have monthly contacts and I'm basically debating whether to keep going with my contract and have my mum post them to me, or maybe try some over there. Also, are glasses expensive?

Thanks Smile

They're non-prescription in Korea. I use Acuvue 2s and it's around 70,000 for a four month supply, IIRC.

No way, this is too cool. My supply is about to run out and I was dreading the hassle of going to an optometrist, when I know my prescription hasn't changed.

I've been wearing these new-model soft lenses from Coopervision, "biofinity torics." I have astigmatism in my right eye, so the right eye has a different prescription than the left.

So I can just take the boxes into a pharmacy, and they'll order new ones without any doctor's note?

Go to a glasses store, not a pharmacy. They have a variety of lenses available on the spot, but it might be a bit tricky if you have an astigmatism. Not having an astigmatism, I just go into EMart, tell them what my prescription is, and they give me lenses on the spot, no ordering involved.

I have astigmatism and a pretty high prescription so they had to order mine. But it only takes 2 days.

I just wandered around my area until I found a glasses/optical store and just handed them my boxes. In and out in about 5 minutes.
