I found this hard to believe but my korean friend said the galaxy s 2 is being given away with a 55,000 won three-year contract. Anyone else seen this?

That does seem unlikely. The price is around 750,000won, that's a lot to eat on a 2 year contract if they were giving it away.

The price is a bit larger than your figure and the OP said 3 year contract.

yes, just a typo. It's still a lot to eat on a 3 year contract. You're looking at about 1,980,000 for your normal 55k contract over 3 years, giving away 50% of that just in a free phone seems excessive.

Do they have 'No Data Limit' plans here yet such as Sprint in the U.S. does?

I'm happy with my pay-as-you-go 3G phone but that would be a dealmaker.

There's no way you'd catch me on a 3 year contract here. I'm ready to upgrade as soon as the new (rumored) Tab II hits the market. Supposedly the size of the Tab 7" with guts more along the lines of the S2. With my luck it will hit the market just as the S3 comes out, and so on and so forth.

Yes, all smartphone plans starting at 55k per month offer unlimited data with no extra charge for tethering. At this point it might be better to invest in the EVO 4G+ considering it's the only 4G phone on the market right now.
