I got an offer from two schools in Busan and one school only had 1 other foreign teacher as opposed to the other which had 5. Is it common to have only one other foreign teacher in a private school? |

That will really depend on the size of the school, on its budget and on how long it has been in business.
Its not a normal/abnormal thing.
That being said, being the only foreign teacher in a school can be a situation that some westerners find unerving or stressful. Others love it and are quite confortable with it.
As a general rule (if that can be said), if you are new to teaching in Korea, I would steer clear of schools where you would be the only foreign teacher unless that appeals to you. |

I've worked with other foreign teachers and now I am the only foreign teacher. Being the only foreign teacher is much better. You can stay away from much more of the petty politics if you are the only foreign teacher. There will often be some suck up foreign teacher (this is not at all uncommon) who has no life outside of work and who will literally stay there for 12 hours a day.....he/she will always praise Korea and after the 12 hour day is over will go for BBQ and then to the Nori Bong with Korean co-workers....REMEMBER: not at all uncommon. |
